RuthEllen Bowen, PTA president, has been with Kainalu for the last five years. Her oldest daughter graduated 6th grade here last year and her youngest began J-Kindergarten this school year. RuthEllen has volunteered as a room parent, SOKPA (chorus-supporting parent), Fun Fair, Book Fair, May Day, Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and Physical Fitness Day. RuthEllen is also the parent representative for the School Community Council (SCC).
Angela Posatiere, Vice President of Membership, has been involved at Kainalu Elementary since 2005, when daughter began kindergarten. Angela truly believes that her day-to-day involvement with school events has helped her remain connected with her daughter. Volunteering has enriched their lives and makes a difference in the quality of her child's education.
Carrie Rainey, Vice President of Fundraising, is a proud Navy wife and mother of a third grader and another future Kainalu hopeful in training. Carrie has volunteered on a regular basis at Kainalu for 3 years with Box Tops, T-shirt sales, Book Fair, May Day, Fun Fair, Jog-a-Thon, Teacher / Staff appreciation week and numerous classroom activities.
Laura Mauga, Treasurer, has been with Kainalu for 2½ years. She transferred here with the Navy in 2006 while her son was in Kindergarten. Kainalu made them feel so welcome during that transition. She separated from the Navy in January to pursue a Nursing degree from HPU. She is married to Kalani, who is in the Navy, and they also have two other boys.
Tammy Torres, Secretary, is the mother of a Special Education student in the 3rd grade. It was Tammy's desire to give back to Kainalu for all they have done to help her daughter, which prompted her to get involved with the PTA 2 years ago. In addition to serving as VP (Membership) from 2006-2008, Tammy has helped with Fun Fair, Book Fair, May Day, Jog-a-thon, Box Tops & Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. She is looking forward to another great year!
PTA National Membership Drive
September is the PTA's National Membership Drive month. As our membership grows this year, we are building strength in our numbers, so that policy makers at the local, state and national levels will hear a strong and unified voice on behalf of our children. By joining, you would become part of an informed team of individuals who will work on behalf of all children at Kainalu Elementary.
