SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS:
SCC (School / Community Council)
Kainalu Elementary has become an SCC school with meetings that are open to all parents, teachers, and staff. The SCC decides on issues that have school wide impact, deal with the operation of SCC, or pertain to the school's mission/vision, representative of each role group: teachers, students, parents, community, classified staff, and administration.
PTA (Parent Teachers Association)
Kainalu Elementary's PTA is the main volunteer organization of the school. Parents support various school activities by helping to organize and provide manpower for school events. Fun Fair, Jog-A-Thon, and yearbook are just a few groups and events like the Student Council, JPOs, and the Dynamic Dolphin Awards.
PCNC (Parent Community Network Coordinator)
Kainalu Elementary's PCNC helps with communications between the home and school. The PCNC's mission is to make parents aware of school efforts and invite them in school. This individual is also responsible for the Kainalu newsletter. Feel free to call (808) 263-1400 with any questions and concerns and our PCNC can point you in the right direction.
A+ PROGRAM
This year, the A+ program is contracted with YMCA. Should you have any questions or want to enroll in the program, please call YMCA at

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
Gifted and Talented: AGT Enrichment & GT Language Arts
The Gifted & Talented program assist students in reaching their hightest potential. AGT (Academically Gifted & Talented) in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th provides enrichment with extra projects and activities in addition to the student's regular schoolwork.
GT/LA (Gifted & Talented Language Arts) in 6th grade offers challenge with the subject area. Students in AGT and GT/LA are screened for meeeting program criteria.
Physical Fitness Meet
Kainalu Elementary students participate in Kainalu's Physical Fitness Meet every fall. Top scorers for grades 3 - 6 train for the district level competition and the Kainalu Track Invitational held at our school.
Tech Club
Twelve total student from 5th - 6th grade learn technology skills and help to maintain Kainalu's computer labs. They also run Kainalu's live morning news KETC3LIVE every morning. To see PSAs and videos they've produced visit th Kainalu Multimedia section.
Student Council
The Student Council at Kainalu Elementary consists of room representatives from 4th, 5th, and 6th grade and Student Council officers who were voted in by the students. The Student Council provides leadership training for all involved students. Kainalu Student Council sponsors many school activities such as Hi5 Recycling, Holiday Canned Food Drive, and Spirit Week just to name a few.
Chorus
Children interested in singing with the chorus meet after school under the direction of Mr. Dean Nakamaejo. They perform throughout the community and at school functions. Students from grades 3 - 6 are welcome to join. Students and parents will receive criteria for involvement in chorus at the first meeting.
Percussion
Also led by Mr. Nakamaejo. Percussion practices every Monday and Friday from 2:15 - 3:00 in P5. Percussion performs with the chorus.
JPO (Junior Police Officers)
The JPOs consist of 5th and 6th grade students who help ensure the safety of our students at crosswalks and the drive-through drop off area. These students are trained by Police Officers and practice their drills weekly.
Menehune
The Menehune are Kainalu Elementary's own library helpers. These students in grades 4 - 6 voluntarily give up one recess a week to help out in the library.

Hula O Kainalu
Aloha! Learn to dance the hula with beauty and grace with Kumu Leilani.
Zumba
Get active and fit learning Zumba with our exciting instructor.
Tae Kwon Do
Martial arts takes concentration and dedication. Release that energy.
Japanese
Konnichiwa! Learn Japanese with our sensei.
Kumon
Learn math skills at a whole new level.
Yoga
Relax your mind and body through yoga.
